About VIN2

VIN2 is an independent, neutral platform for importing vehicles into the United States. We match buyers, dealers and exporters with the right NHTSA-registered importer and run the whole compliance process — customs, DOT & NHTSA conformity, and conformity-bond release — in one place. Matching is free and anonymous, and importer listings are objective and never ranked.

We're deliberately not a registered importer ourselves. That neutrality is the point: we work with all 105 U.S. registered importers so you can compare on substance — location, RI number and specialties — instead of paid placement.

The second half of the platform is verification. A VIN is decoded against deterministic factory tables rather than guessed at, a listing's own photos are scanned for condition and damage, and the result is signed and published as a certificate any buyer can check independently. That work is selective on purpose: it is worth little on a common truck and a great deal on the hi-line, exotic and classic cars where history moves the price. Dealers put that certified stock on a public showroom page.

What the platform does

Two halves, one record per vehicle.

Importer matching
Every U.S. registered importer in one directory, matched on location, jurisdiction and what they're approved to modify. Free, anonymous, never ranked.
Corridor & entry filing
Which route a vehicle qualifies for — 25-year, a conforming FMVSS label, or the RI route — with the customs entry and conformity-bond release handled from the same record.
Landed cost
Transport, brokerage, duty and compliance costed before you commit, so a deal is priced on the number that actually lands the car.
VIN decode
Decoded against deterministic factory tables — plant, engine, axle, paint and trim codes — so a claim is checked against the build record rather than a model's best guess.
Condition scan
The listing's own photographs read for damage, mismatched panels and wear, and the seller's description tested against what the VIN says.
Signed provenance
A cryptographically signed certificate with a public verification page, so a buyer confirms it themselves instead of taking a seller's word.

How we operate

The principles behind the platform.

Neutral by construction
We're not a registered importer, so we never compete with the ones we list. Every RI appears on location, jurisdiction and what they're approved to modify — never on who paid.
Grounded, not guessed
A VIN is decoded against factory build tables first. Where the tables and a model disagree, the tables win: a correct “unverified” is worth more than a confident wrong answer.
Selective by design
We don't certify everything that crosses the border. A certificate on every common truck would be worth nothing — it earns its value on the cars where history moves the price.
Verifiable, not trusted
Every certificate is signed and publicly checkable. A buyer confirms it themselves; the point was never that they take our word for it.
We say what we don't know
An unverifiable claim is reported as unverifiable, not quietly scored as fine. Absence of evidence never renders as a clean result.
